Let’s state the obvious, ladies: perfect isn’t real. Like, it’s completely and wholly impossible. But so many of us are still thinking that if we just work a little harder, we can be perfect. We deplete our time, energy, and inner peace, and when we miss that preposterous target, we beat ourselves up! It’s just so silly to work towards a goal that you have a 0% chance of meeting- I wouldn’t wish those odds on my worst enemy, let alone my friends and community. I’m just not here for that nonesense, and I don’t want you to be, either!
Let’s finally lay down that burden of trying to be perfect. That’s just what my client, Miss A, was doing when she booked her boudoir session with me. Read about her experience, in her own words, below.

“My perception of beauty has shifted in a really meaningful way. I’ve stopped chasing the idea of ‘perfect’ and started valuing what feels real. Beauty, to me now, is less about smooth skin or flawless features and more about confidence, self-acceptance, and the stories we carry.
I’ve learned to appreciate the things I used to be self-conscious about. Laugh lines that show joy, curves that reflect life, and a sense of groundedness that only comes with time. I care far more about how I feel than how I compare, and that’s been incredibly freeing. There’s something powerful about growing into your own skin instead of trying to fit into someone else’s idea of beauty. That’s the kind of beauty I celebrate now.

For me, the biggest pressure was feeling like every little change, like lines, softness, [and ] shifts in my body, meant I was losing something. Before my boudoir session I caught myself comparing who I am now to who I was in my 20s and honestly, that mindset was exhausting. I realized I was carrying around this old, outdated idea of beauty that didn’t even match my lifestyle anymore.
What helped was intentionally changing how I saw myself. I started focusing on what my body represents instead of what it’s supposed to look like: strength, reslience, growth, and a whole lot of lived experience. I reminded myself that sensuality isn’t exclusive to youth yet it deepens with confidence and self-acceptance. By the time the [boudoir] shoot came around, I wasn’t trying to be a younger version of me. I just wanted to show up as who I am now and that shift made the entire experience empowering instead of intimidating.

I hope when women see my pictures, they realize they don’t need to wait for the perfect moment to celebrate who they are. They don’t need to be younger, thinner, firmer, braver, or more put together. They are worthy of being seen right now, exactly as they are.”
XOXO,
Miss A
