There are a million reasons to do boudoir. I mean, who doesn’t want to frame yourself in a new light? Seeing yourself in all of your glory fundamentally changes the way you take on life, and you will never be the same. Over the years, I have talked to hundreds of women and sadly there are some really common excuses that act as stumbling blocks to doing a boudoir shoot. And since I’m being honest, I’ll tell you they’re (mostly) bs and I am here to say: enough. Here are 5 common excuses to not do boudoir myth-busted.

Myth-busted #1. “I need to lose weight”

Everything inside me is screaming “absolutely not.” I photograph real women. Women with curves, stretch marks, scars, and cellulite. I do not support fat-phobic ideas. Weight has nothing to do with sexiness, and size has nothing to do with the stunning beauty of your inner goddess. 

Ok, now that that’s established, I want you to know that when you are my client, we have some real, raw discussions about self-confidence. And I will help you choose your outfits to highlight the features you love the most about yourself! And, yes, downplay those that aren’t. Plus, I’ll be posing you from head to toe (and to be honest that’s where all the magic happens!). I have years of experience as a boudoir photographer, and I promise that you will see yourself as the bombshell you truly are.

Myth-busted #2. “I’m not comfortable in sexy outfits”

This boudoir experience is tailored to you, and we will work together to make sure your images are a true representation of you. We have a wardrobe session where we talk one-on-one about your outfits, and if you don’t want to wear lingerie, that’s perfectly ok! Sexiness goes beyond lace or leather. I guarantee you will have the pictures you’ve always dreamed of. Check out some of these suggestions to get your creativity flowing!

Myth-busted #3. “I’ll be awkward”

I’ve been doing boudoir photography for years, and I have developed a system that will put you at complete ease. First of all, my studio is private, so the only people in the studio are you, the glam squad, and the photographers. (Usually the photographer is just me, but sometimes my studio manager helps.) The glam squad actually leaves when hair and makeup is complete, so there’s true privacy. I’m also your pose coach, so don’t stress about where to look or how to pose your body. And I show you sneak peeks of your pictures on the back of my camera during the shoot so you know the entire time how fantastic you look!

Myth-busted #4. “I don’t have a partner to do it for”

Boudoir is 100% about you, so being single doesn’t really matter. Plus, photographs are forever keepsakes. So if you do want to share them with someone in a romantic way, they will be there ready and waiting.

Myth-busted #5. “I can’t spend money on me”

I get it- choosing to prioritize yourself and invest in you can be emotionally difficult, especially if you are used to being a mom, business owner, career woman, daughter, or sister first. Self-care and prioritizing yourself is SO important. And we have a few options for payment so you can choose what works best for you.
