Boudoir is empowering and transformative in too many ways to count. When you finish your session you’ll never be the same. I know you might feel a little apprehensive leading up to your shoot, and that’s totally normal! After all, you are planning to be vulnerable in front of the camera. No matter how strange it might feel beforehand, it’s 100% worth it. Here are a few tips to help you be at your most confident on shoot day.
The biggest regret I hear from womxn with disappointing experiences centers around their photographer. That their photographer didn’t help with posing, didn’t have a private studio, or didn’t bring out their best look. I’ve talked about how to choose the best photographer for you before-click here for a refresh! My top suggestions are to look through the photographer’s gallery and make sure you see someone like you, and to explicitly ask what their services include. That way you can be confident on shoot day in the photographer and not have to worry about any surprises.
Your perfect looks are out there, even if you’re unsure what to look for! In my studio, you wear three different looks, and we plan them out together so you have all the guidance you need. I also have a lingerie boutique with sizes featuring XXS to 6X and am happy to show you the best pieces for you. We’ll make sure your outfits are perfect for you so you don’t feel uncomfortable or incorrectly represented on shoot day.
You’re going to want to be at your best on the session day. I got you covered on the day-of services like hair and makeup, but you’ll need to do a few things beforehand. A couple of days before your shoot, make sure you book a manicure/pedicure, get a wax (if that’s your thing!), and do your favorite things that make you feel luxurious. Center yourself while being pampered and allow yourself to be excited about your upcoming session. It’s ok to be nervous, but remember it’s supposed to be fun, too!
So many of my clients have demanding lives. Between careers, family, friends, and hobbies, it’s easy to have your mind racing a mile a minute. To take full advantage of your session, be present. Turn off your phone the moment you walk into my studio so you can truly feel your feels. Give yourself some love and put your normal responsibilities aside for the morning. Fully experience the boudoir session and revel in your gorgeous self.
It’s totally normal to feel a little anxious about being photographed, and sometimes that can slide into negative self-thoughts. Have your mantra or affirmation ready to focus on if needed. (Don’t have an affirmation? Here’s a list of my favorites!) Remember that your photographer knows you’re not a model and will know how to combat any awkwardness or uncertainty. Trust your photographer, and yourself, and focus on your inner goddess.
Your confidence will blossom during your boudoir session, and you’ll have incredible portraits to treasure for the rest of your life. Ready to book a session? Let’s chat!
XOXO,
Ria
